Responsible for all technical activities within the Automotive facility including Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Engineering, Tool Room, Safety/Environmental and Maintenance.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Plan and manage the activities of engineering staff and skilled trades to achieve facility and corporate objectives.
2. Provide technical support to business development initiatives.
3. Develop innovative manufacturing process and technology to improve product quality and production efficiencies at the lowest possible cost.
4. Maintains a constant surveillance over product design and manufacturing processes for cost reduction and control.
5. Oversees the design of all special production equipment necessary to maintain manufacturing operations at competitive levels.
6. Monitor the progress of projects and programs, coordinate with engineers, skilled trades, other departments, customers and suppliers, and apply the necessary management controls to achieve on-time completion within budget.
7. Organize engineering staff to accomplish goals efficiently and determine and maintain department staffing levels as required to meet department & company objectives.
8. Manage and organize skilled trade activities to maintain tooling, equipment & facilities in top working condition and to provide support to other departments.
9. Direct maintenance and upgrading of facilities, buildings, and grounds as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises engineering, maintenance and skilled trades staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be able to apply technical, conceptual, and process skills to diverse problems and situations. Must be able to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Position requires a four-year degree in engineering. Additional degrees in engineering or business are desirable but not mandatory. A minimum of five to ten years experience in increasingly complex technical supervisory positions. A demonstrated ability to manage and motivate subordinates and accomplish goals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
